Odessa Classics
International music festival
Odesa, the pearl of the Black Sea, has hosted seven music festivals, the Odessa Classics, every June from 2015 to 2021. After a huge success from the very beginning, Odessa Classics has rightfully taken its rightful place as a European festival of the highest level, with world classical music stars: Daniel Hope, Yevgeny Kisin, Pinchas Zukerman, Joshua Bell, Maxim Wengerov, Mischa Maisky, Matthias Görne, Michael Guttman, Thomas Hampson, as well as chamber orchestras from Zurich, Berlin, Brussels and many others.
But the war changed everything, and since 2022 it has become impossible to hold a large-scale international festival in Ukraine. In 2022-2024, the Odessa Classics found a new temporary home in Europe, holding 50 concerts in seven countries: Switzerland, Estonia, Greece, Germany, Belgium, Poland, and Lithuania.
In 2024, the Odessa Classics celebrated its 10th anniversary. The festival’s concerts took place in Lithuania, Switzerland, Estonia, Belgium and Germany.
In 2025, Odessa Classics will host editions in Greece, Germany, and Switzerland.
«I am delighted to announce the news of close creative cooperation with the wonderful Odessa Classics festival from 2019. Alexey Botvinov and his team have done a great job in creating this festival in their beautiful historic city. I am incredibly excited and inspired when I think about my musical idols and their role in Odesa’s musical life: Petro Stolyarsky, David Oistrakh, Nathan Milstein, Busia Goldstein, Emil Hillels, Sviatoslav Richter, Zakhar Bron and many others. I look forward to new musical meetings in Odesa!»
