Oleksandra Fedosova
Oleksandra Fedosova was born in Poltava, Ukraine.
At the age of 8, she won her first prizes and awards on two instruments: the violin and the piano. Oleksandra first attended the music school in Poltava, where she majored in violin and minored in piano. At the age of 12, she was accepted into the Lysenko Music School for Gifted Children in Kyiv, where she studied violin with L. Ovcharenko and piano with M. Bogdanova. She also received a scholarship from the President’s Foundation at this school.
She then completed her bachelor’s degree in Munich at the University of Music and Theater under Gottfried Schneider, followed by two master’s degrees in Basel at the University of Music and Performing Arts and at the Zurich University of the Arts under Alexander Sitkovetsky. She attended master classes with Anna Chumachenko, Zakhar Bron, and Benjamin Schmidt. During her studies, she won prizes in over ten music competitions. After successful auditions and competitions, her studies were supported by various foundations and scholarships: Oskar and Vera Foundation, Gidon Kremer Foundation, Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now, Hirschmann Scholarship, Rudolf Moser Foundation, Walter Fischli Foundation, Rahn Cultural Fund, Sinfonima Foundation, Marianne and Curt Dienemann Foundation.
She has performed at music festivals such as the Trecastagni International Music Festival, the Braunwald Music Week, the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival at the invitation of Gidon Kremer, Ipalpiti International LA, the International Contemporary Music Festival Contrasts, the Golden Festival, the Odessa Classic, the Öschberghof Klassik Donaueschingen, the Montepulciano Chamber Music Festival, the Bad Kissingen Music Festival, Young Euro Classic Berlin, and Chamber Music Connects the World, among others, where she has performed a wide variety of repertoire as a soloist or as a chamber musician with renowned musicians such as Gidon Kremer, Christian Tetzlaff, Roman Patkolo, Thomas Grossenbacher, Oleksiy Botvinov, Lawrence Power, Alexander Sitkovetsky, and Walter Nothas, among others.
In 2018, she recorded the CD “The Six Seasons” with double bassist Roman Patkolo as pianist. The CD received the OPUS KLASSIK 2018 award, which was presented at the Konzerthaus Berlin.
Another area she enjoys and has already gained experience in is teaching.
As an orchestral musician, she has played in the following orchestras: Munich Radio Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Weinberger Chamber Orchestra, Kremerata Baltika, as concertmaster of the Orff Academy Orchestra at the Munich Radio Symphony Orchestra, as second concertmaster of the Zurich Chamber Philharmonic, and in various baroque orchestras. She has collaborated with conductors and soloists such as Lorin Maazel, Mariss Jansons, Christian Thielemann, Paavo Järvi, Gidon Kremer, Joshua Bell, Ray Chen, Herbert Blomstedt, Midori, Maurizio Pollini, Janine Jansen, and Radu Lupu, among others.
As a soloist and orchestral musician, she has performed in concert halls such as the Philharmonie im Gasteig, the Herkulessaal Munich, the Kyiv Philharmonic, the Tonhalle Zurich, the National Center for the Performing Arts Beijing, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the KKL Lucerne, Disney Hall LA, the Shanghai Concept Hall, the Lviv Philharmonic, and the Vilnius Philharmonic, among others.
Her solo concerts with orchestras and recitals cover a broad repertoire from the Baroque to the contemporary.
