Odessa’s view of the future
On the stage at the foot of the stairs, masterpieces by Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi, and musical works written for various films were performed.
About ten thousand listeners filled the recently restored legendary architectural masterpiece, and it was evident how strongly the city’s residents want to touch and join modern European and global culture. The highlight of the week-long festival was the open-air concert against the backdrop of the sea port, as well as concerts featuring such masters as violinist Daniel Hope, pianist Sebastian Knauer, and musicians from the Berlin Chamber Orchestra.
The initiator and “spiritual leader,” artistic director, and one of the main participants of this wonderful event was the renowned pianist Oleksiy Botvinov, who became a “conduit” not only for artistic but also indirectly for political ideas related to the festival. Botvinov aims to restore Odessa, which has given the world such outstanding figures as musician David Oistrakh and writer Isaac Babel, to its former cultural greatness – but not only in that sphere…
